The SOS Children's Villages card
About sQuid on SOS Children's Villages card
This contactless smart card has been handed out by SOS Children's Villages in Kenya to those children who are supported by their charitable work. It will be used for aid distribution and for managing donations, which will be added to each account centrally by sQuid. In turn, these donations can then be collected onto the card by the beneficiary. Each card carries a blank white strip on the front upon which the card holder can write their name or add their mark.

About the SOS Aid distribution card
SOS Children's Villages
Kenya was one of the first African countries in which SOS-Kinderdorf International became active. The national association, "SOS Children's Village Association Kenya" was founded in 1971. Its aim was to help reduce the ever-increasing number of orphaned and neglected children in the country who were not receiving any support from the state. To find out more go to SOS Children's Villages Kenya.
sQuid
sQuid was established in the United Kingdom in 2006 where they operate payment schemes for schools, Universties, business campuses, retailers and transit companies. They also have an office in Kenya and are working on a number of initiatives to bring the benefits of contactless payments and transactions. These include innovative new projects like this one to enable aid distribution and donations.
Paystream
The PayStream network provides an infrastructure to link client businesses with their consumers and vice versa rather than each organisation setting up their own structures. Their network also provides the physical hardware that enables Aid to be distributed for SOS Children's Villages via the sQuid network. Visit Paystream to find our more about their work in East Africa.
