If you have a Bolton Council card featuring a GMPTE logo, you can use it for pay-as-you-go travel on Arriva buses in Bolton. You need to register your card with sQuid and then top up your card online in order to use it. Payments are contactless so just tell the driver your destination then
hold your card next to the ticket machine and your ticket will print out. It's as simple as that! It means an end to fiddling around with change to get to the correct fare.

GMPTE purse for bus travel
The GMPTE purse is the one you need to top up in order to pay for Arriva bus travel. You can only top it up online where you can also view a breakdown of your transactions. Your top up will be available to collect on to your card the next day.

If your card does not have a GMPTE logo on it you can upgrade it to a new one. Drop into the One Stop Shop or your local library and they will arrange for a new card to be sent to you. Register your new card with us (you will need to set up a new sQuid account).
