Cashless payments for parking in Denver
22 Feb 2010

Motorists in Denver, Colorado will no longer be required to find loose change to pay for parking services in the city, it has been revealed.

From Wednesday (February 24th) onwards, some 4,500 new Smart Meters will be installed in car parks across the city, allowing drivers to pay for their parking using a variety of methods, the Denver Post reports.

Credit cards, as well as contactless smart card devices can now be used to pay for car park services, with 85 per cent of the city's meters being replaced by this new system.

The introduction of the new meters in Denver follows moves by councils in various UK towns and cities, who have implemented eMoney payment technologies in car parks in the hope of making the system more convenient.

Drivers in Sheffield and the town of Newton Abbot in Devon are just some of the people who are now able to pay for parking services using cashless devices.
