Cashless catering introduced at Darlington academy
22 Oct 2009

An academy in Darlington has implemented a cashless system, which includes catering, Parent Pay and a link-up to the library.

The changes at St Aidan's Church of England Academy - formerly known as Eastbourne Church of England Academy - were implemented following the institution's recent move to a new £16.4 million building, PublicTechnology.net reported.

Assistant principal Alan Dick commented that the "cutting edge" solution helped the establishment make the transition from school to academy.

In addition to the new cashless catering system, other new technologies that have been introduced at St Aidan's include handheld PDA walk-around auditing and an asset management suite.

Similar eMoney solutions have been implemented by sQuidcard at schools in Wiltshire, including St Augustine's Catholic College and Sheldon School.

Using the system, students and their parents can activate their cards online and can then top up the balance over the internet or offline using a cash and cheque service at the school.
