Cashless catering 'quickest and most effective payment method'
3 Feb 2010
Paying for school meals using a cashless catering system is the "quickest and most effective" way to manage meals in educational institutions, according to one expert.
Geoff Peppiatt, Chairman of catering service provider Innovate, says that making eMoney payments in the school canteen contributes to both an easier and more enjoyable dining experience for pupils.
Furthermore, parents will be able to see the benefit of implementing contactless smart cards.
"We also believe it will be valued by parents who will now be able to ensure that dinner money is actually spent on decent food rather than on sweets and snacks from local shops," advises Mr Peppiatt.
His comments come in response to the recent collaboration between Innovate and ePayments provider sQuid, which have teamed up in order to provide contactless smart cards for students to use to pay for their school lunches.
The devices are hoped to increase efficiency in canteens, while being a low-cost solution.
Sheldon School and St Augustine's Catholic College in Wiltshire have been using eMoney systems from sQuid in school catering outlets for over a year.
