Cashless catering 'seamless and simple'
2 Feb 2010
Cashless catering systems in school canteens could prove to be a seamless and simple way for pupils to pay for their meals, it has been suggested.
The recent integration of ePayments provider sQuid with Nationwide Retail System's (NRS) Trust-e Cashless Catering School Management Solution will allow parents to load cash onto a contactless smart card online, which will give students the chance to purchase food and drink while at school.
Additionally, as they can top up and view the transactions online, parents will be able to keep track of what their child is eating.
Speaking about the recent integration of the two systems, David Paylor, Head of Cashless Systems at the NRS, says: "It will provide a simple and safe way for students to pay for their meals, as well as greatly reducing administration in the school."
Furthermore, the move will totally eliminate the need for cash in the canteens of schools that choose to incorporate this technology.
Tess Walker, Headteacher of the Ormiston Park Academy in Thurrock, Essex, also recently advised that since the school adopted cashless catering systems, queues in the canteen have been greatly reduced.
