Cashless catering 'shows companies care'
27 July 2009

Accor Services, a provider of loyalty management services, has seen 40 per cent growth in the Indian market, a sign that companies are adopting cashless catering to care for their workforce, reports The Hindu Business Line.

The publication explains that contactless smart card systems have replaced luncheon vouchers as a means of providing cashless catering to employees.

Sandeep Banerjee, managing director and chief executive officer of Accor Services in India, suggests that the growth in loyalty management business comes as employers ask for more from their staff in turbulent times.

"The previous year we had registered a very strong growth rate of 45 per cent; but the current growth rate during such difficult times is not bad at all," he adds.

Contactless smart cards issued by Accor for cashless catering under its Ticket Restaurant Plus brand also extend employee benefits such as healthcare entitlements and childcare facilities.

Accors' School Choice programme also brings benefits to school catering for disadvantaged pupils in Delhi, The Hindu Business Line claims.

In the UK, sQuidcard can help school catering to become cashless while ensuring that there is no stigma associated with entitlement to free school meals by eliminating the distinction between vouchers and cash.
