Derbyshire school wins award for catering
10 Nov 2011
A school in Derbyshire has won an award for the quality of its catering facilities.
Fritchley Church of England Primary School was named as the overall winner at a recent prize-giving ceremony hosted by Derbyshire County Council (DCC), Bakewell Today reports.
Headteacher Phil Bateman said he is delighted and that the meals are fantastic.
"Nicki and Bernadette [the cooks] are absolutely passionate about their job and this award is for them. It shines through in the food that they serve to the children," he added.
Around 150 pupils enjoy the dinners every day, but DCC may have to bring in cashless catering to beat queues if more parents hear the news and want their youngsters to have hot midday meals too.
The school was judged the winner after being assessed on quality of food, service, food presentation, customer care and hygiene, among other categories.
At the recent Educatering Magazine awards, Bolton Council picked up the Local Authority Caterer of the Year trophy after improving the range and quality of the meals it serves for local schoolchildren.
