Highbridge school receives top marks for school catering
15 Sep 2011
School catering staff at a Highbridge educational institution have been praised for their high standard of cleanliness as part of a food hygiene scheme.
Employees from King Alfred School were awarded five stars for the third consecutive year after officials from Sedgemoor District Council carried out an inspection.
The staff members regularly use locally sourced ingredients to create a wide range of hot and cold meals for pupils, with lunches prepared each day on the school premises.
Catering Manager Tracey Lowe highlighted the acknowledgement from the local council and claimed the staff were delighted to be praised for a third year.
"It is reassuring for our customers to know that we maintain very high standards," she added.
This news comes after Glasgow school catering provider Cordia launched the city's first bespoke food kiosk at Holyrood Secondary School, which offers a wide selection of hot and cold healthy meals for pupils.
