Pupils to learn new cashless catering system
8 Sep 2009
A new cashless catering facility will be up and running for the new term at Nailsea School in North Somerset.
This week pupils will be invited in to school to learn how to use the system, reports the Bristol Evening News.
It represents another step towards a cashless society and comes after eMoney network sQuidcard has had success implementing similar cashless catering services in schools in Wiltshire.
The newspaper describes the art school's new look as "state of the art" as £30 million worth of work has helped create a modern-looking building.
North Somerset council executive member for children and young people Jeremy Blatchford remarked: "It is a very exciting time for the students, staff and governors of Nailsea School."
He also suggested that it is a "flagship school" and said that it could be the first of other institutions like it in the south-west.
Nailsea's development was aided by Department for Children, Schools and Families funding as part of the government's Building Schools for the Future initiative.
