School's catering facilities to grow further
22 Sep 2009
Pupils at Westfield Community School in Yeovil can buy roast dinners, fresh salads and a special Thursday curry dish at the new high-tech catering facilities within the education establishment.
The Yeovil Express reports that the food area was created during the summer when a former hall and stage area got a brand-new look.
Further developments are planned and the school may want to consider the benefits cashless catering could bring.
UK eMoney network sQuidcard is currently providing contactless smart card technology at schools in nearby Chippenham and Trowbridge, which involves pupils being issued with personalised smart cards containing a sQuid eMoney purse.
The cards can be used to pay for meals, rendering carrying cash to school unnecessary and creating a discrete method for administering free school meals.
Principal of Westfield Community School Chris Hunt told the newspaper: "We are committed to providing high quality facilities for our students."
