Trowbridge schools 'good at working together'
16 Oct 2009

The headteacher of a Trowbridge school has claimed that local education institutions "are really strong at working together".

Jackie Chalk who runs Keevil Primary School was commenting to the Wiltshire Times after her school came to an agreement with nearby North Bradley Primary School to ensure its children are provided with hot lunchtime dinners.

Keevil does not have a kitchen at present, but the new arrangement sees food cooked in the state-of-the-art facilities down the road before being driven to the other school for the kids to enjoy.

Trowbridge is also home to a school that has a cashless catering system run by eMoney network sQuidcard.

St Augustine's Catholic College in the town has the technology in place that allows pupils to pay for dinners with a contactless smart card, which can be topped up with cash online and has the facility to allow parents to monitor their offspring's spending habits.

Meanwhile, Ms Chalk says there has been a good reaction to the link-up between her school and North Bradley with more children taking up school dinners as a result. "The parents have been very positive," she added.
