Consumers seek 'trust and familiarity' in contactless payment services
16 May 2011
Those who are interested in the future of contactless payment schemes have been told of the main elements that users look for when considering these options.
A new study by market research company GfK NOP has indicated that two of the key features that people seek are familiarity of a brand and trust, the Paypers reported.
When asked which firms they see as their preferred choice at the moment, PayPal came out on top, with Nokia in China and Apple both placing highly in the estimations of respondents too.
Meanwhile, the highest level of trust, preference and consideration was placed in the financial brand category, with 48 per cent of consumers believing those in this sector often prove appealing.
One well-known organisation pressing ahead with its European contactless payment strategies is Google.
The search-engine giant is looking to allow Android-enabled smartphone owners to use their devices as a mobile wallet, in which they can swipe and pay for items in the future.
