Contactless credit cards incoming by American Express
18 May 2011

Brits who are interested in contactless payment measures may want to check out a new strategy being offered by American Express.

The UK's initial batch of American Express-branded contactless credit cards is set to be issued via credit company MBNA.

As part of the distribution, all existing MBNA customers with American Express cards will be given replacement contactless forms of plastic in a reissue strategy.

These types of cards will also be given to those who have lost or had their past product stolen.

MBNA is expecting millions of the cards to be in the occupancy of Brits by the time 2012 is out.

Such a method will mean that the credit company will be the first to issue EMV-enabled contactless plastic for American Express, Visa and MasterCard.

Only recently, American Express revealed that it is to partner with mobile location solutions provider Scvngr so that it can trial a loyalty programme in select parts of the US, reported Fierce Mobile Content
