Contactless payments launched in Reading
7 Sep 2011
Reading inhabitants could soon see changes to the way they purchase items after a US company launches contactless payment systems in the town's retailers.
According to the Reading Chronicle, MoLo Rewards has chosen the location to trial its new application to allow users to tap their mobile handset on a contact point in shops.
The company, which has an office in central London, will launch the scheme across a variety of local shops and businesses by the end of September, with the software available to download from all application stores.
Reading Buses has already signed up to be part of the cashless payment scheme in a bid to offer travellers the chance to receive discounted tickets and the best prices.
Chris Davies, Vice President of Sales at MoLo Rewards, said: "Every coupon you need, and those you did not know were even on offer, will be available as quickly and as easily as a credit card transaction."
MoLo Rewards aims to enable consumers to redeem shopping vouchers and gift cards through their mobile phone with the adoption of cashless payment methods in shops.
