Contactless badges used in new workforce management system
22 Mar 2011

Contactless smart cards are being utilised by one company as part of a new workforce management system.

Brunner Mond is set to roll out a new scheme across its two UK plants, which will replace current paper-based solutions for a number of processes.

Employees will be issued with contactless badges which they use to access certain areas, as well as for clocking on and off and to track their activities.

Furthermore, the company will be able to locate all staff members quickly and easily should there ever be an emergency.

Lesley Lightfoot, payroll and human resources manager at the firm, said improving health and safety was the primary goal of the change.

"However, we are expecting to see many additional benefits, which will have a positive impact both on our employees' working lives and on our overall business efficiency," she added.

Earlier this month, director of Smart Media Solutions Dick Clark said contactless smart cards can be used to reduce the time required to carry out fire drills.
