Coventry City fans receive new contactless smart card
22 Jun 2010

Coventry City fans will be able to use a multi-functional contactless smart card from next season.

The new cards will double up as a match day ticket as supporters can gain entry to the Ricoh Arena by simply swiping their cards over the turnstiles readers, reports the coventrytelegraph.co.uk.

Cardholders will still be able to make cashless payments as all the benefits and features of the previous card will be included.

All the food stalls around the stadium accept the cards, allowing customers to spend less time queuing as transaction times are significantly reduced.

Stephen Ebanks, head of information and event sales for the club, advised fans to keep their old cards until the outstanding balance has been transferred to the new one.

He told the news provider: "The combined season ticket and cashless system has successfully been in operation for two seasons now and so we felt it was the right time to replace all the old season ticket cards with up-to-date versions."
