Denver motorists set to profit from new e-money parking meters
17 Dec 2010
Denver motorists can now use e-money smart cards to pay for their parking at car parks across the city.
Local government agency Denver Public Works has confirmed that around 4,200 smart meters have been installed in downtown Denver and Cherry Creek.
The new meters accept a smart card known as the ParkSmart Denver card which allows users to pay for their parking without the need for cash.
A statement from Denver Public Works said: "ParkSmart Denver Cards are an easy way to pay for parking at Denver's new smart meters
"There is no additional charge or deposit when purchasing a ParkSmart Denver card - simply pay the face value of the card."
Consumers are advised to recycle their card once they have finished it, as they can not add additional credit to their account once they have purchased it.
ParkSmart Denver Cards are available in $5, $15, $25, $50 and $100 (£60) denominations.
