Electronic payments system at Cambridge council
17 Aug 2009

A new electronic payment advice system used by Cambridge county council has been dubbed a success.

The cabinet member for resources and performance at the local authority, John Reynolds, suggested that businesses can benefit from the device.

Cambs24 reports that the BACS remittance advice facility emails companies with information about bills they have submitted to the council.

It happens as soon as the payment has been made, ensuring both parties know when the transaction has been completed.

The local authority offers various services to help businesses such as information on business travel solutions and advice on energy efficiency.

Mr Reynolds remarked: "During the current tough economic times it is vital that we do everything we can to help businesses and this high-speed remittance advice service will enable firms to be able to keep a close eye on their cash-flow and income."
