Gemalto launches new digital security solution
17 Jun 2010
Gemalto has launched a new digital security solution which will further increase the security of official identity documents.
The firm has introduced the Sealys Edge Sealer process, which uses a laser to engrave unique markings on any identity document, such as driving licenses and ID cards.
It is expected to reduce the number of forged documents as officials will easily be able to verify their authenticity.
Frederic Trojani, senior vice president of government programs at Gemalto, claimed that the development underlines the firm's commitment to improve their security solutions.
He said: "We are able to offer to our governmental agencies customers the best tools against fraud, always keeping in mind ease of use for both citizens and security civil servants in the foreground."
Gemalto provides payment terminals to UK based company sQuid, the FSA regulated eMoney payment network.
sQuidcard holders can top up their contactless smart cards online or in store and use it to quickly and securely pay for goods.
