Gemalto looks to improve e-money security with new credit card
15 Nov 2010

Digital security firm Gemalto has developed a new credit card which could significantly improve the security of online e-money transactions.

The company has released its Ezio card which includes a small button that can generate a unique, non-reusable code. This code is then displayed on a panel built into the card.

This new technology provides a second form of authentication, in addition to standard login details, when a user logs into their internet banking system or conducts an online transaction.

"With the rapid growth of attempted online fraud, financial institutions are looking for effective and affordable ways to provide increased and more user-friendly online security, especially for commercial and high net worth accounts," said Ove Wedsjo, head of eBanking at Gemalto.

"Our brand new Ezio product equips end-users with a security token embedded in a form-factor they are very familiar with, guaranteeing high user acceptance."
