Australian rail passengers to profit from new e-money vending machine
3 Nov 2010

Rail passengers in Australia will now be able to purchase their tickets at a new e-money vending machine, it has been revealed.

Residents of New South Wales who use the Mount Druitt station can beat the queues at the ticket desk by using their debit or credit card to buy their rail ticket, reports the Mount Druitt and St Mary's Standard.

Richard Amery, Mount Druitt State Labour MP, claimed the move is good news for the 15,000 local residents who use the station every day.

He told the news provider: "Mt Druitt Station is one of the first stations to have the new device installed so this is great news for local rail customers."

In addition to cutting queues at one of the busiest rail stations in the state, the cashless vending machines offer customers a wider selection of payment options and speed up their transaction process.

Commuters can buy a range of tickets for their desired journey including fortnightly, monthly, quarterly and yearly season tickets.
