3 Mar 2011
People living in the US could soon be living without cash, as one of the country's financiers has reportedly been trialling an eMoney scheme.
The Bank of America has invited customers to sample near-field communication (NFC) technology with their Blackberry smartphones, according to BGR.
A Mobile Wallet payment system has been set up using a new battery cover for the gadgets that works alongside a microSD card.
The news outlet suggests the electronic money solution "will become active very shortly" and will be accepted at a variety of outlets in the country.
Blackberry Bold, Tour and Curve devices were apparently included in the trial, so consumers using the handsets could anticipate a rollout of the technology soon.
And consumers in the UK may not have to wait too long to use contactless smart cards, as Paypoint has revealed some of the retailers using its services will soon be able to accept eMoney payments.
