Canadian airline adopts eMoney solutions
16 Sep 2010
Canadian airline WestJet has chosen to introduce eMoney solutions on all of its services, according to reports.
The Times Colonist has revealed that passengers will not be able to pay for in-flight purchases with cash.
Customers will instead pay for goods via credit card, while vouchers will be issued to those who do not have a credit card.
WestJet spokesman Robert Palmer claimed the move will cut the workload of flight attendants as they will no longer have to handle change.
He told the news provider: "There are some savings for us. We have operating costs around the handling of cash and this also provides us with some price flexibility."
Furthermore, goods may be more reasonably priced as smaller increases of less than a dollar can be introduced under the new system.
"Under the cash system we found it difficult to price in anything other than round dollars as we don't want attendants fumbling with quarters, dimes and pennies," he added
