Contactless smart card 'to empower Nigerian education'

A contactless smart card product has been introduced in Nigeria in the hope of empowering educational institutions in the country, according to reports.
All Africa states that the technology is designed to give students, parents, management and administrative staff easy access to information.
SugarAnt Technologies and Idenizen Smartware have collaborated to create the product, which is currently being used in over 100 educational institutions across India.
The first cards were initally implemented in the region in July and according to the Nigeria Guardian and as the technology expands it could raise the quality of education across the country.
Contactless smart cards have been introduced in some UK schools as a replacement for cash transactions in the cafeteria.
E-Money put onto a sQuidcard works as a secure payment system, while allowing the school to ensure that all services are correctly paid for.
The system can also replace cash transactions for other types of services on campus.
