eMoney solution for mobile phones launched in Poland
23 Jul 2010
An eMoney solution for mobile phones has been launched in Poland that allows contactless smart cards to be topped up at ticket vending machines (TVMs) across Warsaw.
Asec, a subsidiary of On Track Innovations (OTI), said that GSM prepaid mobile phone cards will now be able to be topped up on the company's existing network of TVMs.
The machines support contactless smart card payments, as well as cash and magnetic strip cards, and are situated in high traffic areas of Warsaw, including metro and railway stations and major bus stops.
Oded Bashan, chairman and chief executive of OTI, said: "The addition of a new service throughout the life of the (TVM) project is part of our strategy to leverage the already-installed infrastructure for new products that generate additional revenues."
Asec is working with epay, a subsidiary of Euronet Worldwide that processes and distributes electronic payment solutions, to deliver the new option.
