30 Apr 2010
Gemalto has reported improved financial figures due partly to the renewed growth in the contactless payment market.
The US digital security firm, which terminals to enable contactless payment, reported first-quarter revenue had risen by six per cent compared with the same period last year.
Officials cited the positive impact of worldwide dual interface contactless card deployment on the overall figures, which show that revenue currently stood at €390 million (£340 million).
Olivier Piou, Gemalto's Chief Executive Officer, was pleased with the continued growth of the company.
He said: "Significant expansion in our mobile software and services activities, robust growth in high-end and contactless payment card deployments, and strong performance in Security all reinforce our market leadership."
Gemalto provides payment terminals to UK based company sQuid, the FSA regulated eMoney payment network.
