Ingenico signs contactless solutions deal with Hypercom
7 Apr 2011

Ingenico has signed a new deal that could see Hypercom customers benefit from contactless smart card solutions.

It has been revealed that the company will acquire the US payments systems business of Hypercom in a deal worth $54 million ($33.2 million).

This will enable Ingenico to increase its presence in America and, in particular, provide a boost to its involvement in the banking channel.

Hypercom's customers, which come from a number of different channels including Bankcard, multi-lane retail and value-added services, will also benefit from the change.

They will be able to take advantage of Ingeinco's range of contactless solutions.

Philippe Lazare, chief executive officer at the enterprise, said: "The acquisition of Hypercom US business is a major step in our strategic development notably aimed at accelerating the adoption of contactless NFC [Near Field Communication] technology".

This news comes after Ingenico recently announced a new partnership with international mobile airtime transfer company TransferTo.
