New officers named at Smart Card Alliance's council
30 Sep 2009
Neville Pattinson, Vice-President of Government Affairs and Standards at digital security firm Gemalto, has been appointed as the new chair of the Smart Card Alliance Identity Council.
He is one of three newly-elected officers - the others are IBM's John McKeon as vice-chair and IDmachines' Sal D'Agonstino as secretary.
Employees from Deloitte, Oberthur Technologies and Cogent Systems, among others, are part of the 2009-10 steering committee.
The Identity Council is made up of over 90 individuals from 49 chip vendor, end-user, card vendor, biometrics provider, systems integrator, identity system and software vendor organisations.
A statement from the council also revealed that it will be sending representatives to October's eighth annual Smart Cards in Government Conference in Washington DC.
Earlier this month, Smart Card Alliance Executive Director Randy Vanderhoof oversaw the launch of a white paper, detailing how those involved in the payments industry can make contactless payment technology work successfully in the coming years.
