NZ airline aims to boost business with new loyalty scheme
4 Aug 2010

Commuters in New Zealand who regularly travel by plane will soon be able to benefit from a new loyalty scheme.

Air New Zealand has launched its Starfish card which will offer members the chance to claim discounts on all regional flights within a year of purchase.

Customers can opt for a 15 per cent discount card worth NZ$200 (£95) or the more expensive version which offers a 30 per cent discount for NZ$800 (£380).

Bruce Parton, Air New Zealand group general manager Australasia, claimed the card will also help local firms.

He said: "The Starfish card will appeal to the tens of thousands of customers who travel frequently to and from regional New Zealand.

"Small to medium businesses will find this card particularly attractive as they start to recover from the effects of the global recession."

The card was introduced following consultation with around 2,000 customers. It will initially be available for a two-month trial period after its release at the end of August.
