Ottawa eMoney parking machines launched
7 Jun 2010
Motorists in Ottawa will now be able to use eMoney solutions to pay for their parking ticket.
The city unveiled the first of 600 new pay-and-display parking machines that will replace older meters across the city.
Users will be able to pay for their ticket with credit or debit cards, but the machines will also accept the new smart card scheme which is set to be launched later in the year.
The scheme is set to be implemented throughout the city, allowing customers to use a valid ticket at various locations around the city.
Councillor Maria McRae, chair of the city's transportation committee, expressed her belief that the move will be a positive one for customers.
She told metronews.ca: "This will provide people with a convenient way to pay and will mean that people will no longer need the right change to feed the meters."
Each new machine will take the place of around six to eight older models.
