Scouts take advantage of eMoney payments
7 Jul 2010
Visitors to this year's 2010 National Scout Jamboree will be able to use eMoney solutions, it has been revealed.
US firm FreedomPay has developed a smart bracelet which allows users to pay for goods by simply swiping the device over the provided reader.
Scouts can purchase snacks, beverages and supplies from stalls, while the bracelet is water-resistant so customers can even swim in it.
Michael Ramsey, director of brand management for the BSA, claimed the scheme gives users a chance to access funds quickly and securely.
He said: "Even better, it eliminates the need to carry cash, which could be lost during the event, and gives parents the ability to add additional funds as needed."
As the event is held in a remote part of Virginia, FreedomPay teamed up with a mobile infrastructure provider to develop a 3G network which enables transactions to occur in the area.
