iPhone owners 'are ready for mobile payments'
25 Aug 2011

Individuals who use iPhones to keep up to date with the latest events are among the most willing to adapt to mobile payment methods, a new study has revealed.

Research carried out by YouGov showed that individuals using the advanced smartphone were open to the prospect of using the device to pay for items in advance.

The findings emerge after the majority of people claimed they were dubious about the innovative technique as a result of fears about security.

However, 21 per cent of participants stated they would use the device to pay bills, along with 36 per cent who claimed they would use their handset to check their bank balance.

James Richards, director of Mobile Intelligent Environments, said: "It is no surprise that financial management has moved up Britons' agendas and the number looking to access banking services via a mobile phone is on the rise."

This news comes after reports that telecommunications companies could benefit as much as consumers from the increase in mobile payments, as a result of increased demand for the devices.
