Lakeland launches contactless payment scheme
15 Feb 2012

Lakeland is launching a new contactless smart card payment initiative in its stores up and down the UK.

All of the housewares retailer's 57 stores will use the new technology from June 30th 2012.

It will speed up the payments process for customers as it will offer them a far more convenient way to pay for their e-money purchases via contactless cards or mobiles.

Director of operations at Lakeland Gary Marshall said his enterprise is committed to meeting the needs of consumers, "from the items in our range to payments at the till".

He added that Lakeland has "strong values of quality and customer care", which is why the initiative has been introduced.

Mark Bowerman, spokesman for the UK Cards Association, recently claimed such payments are a fast and reliable way of making transactions that should be welcomed by consumers.

There are also plenty of security measures in place and a PIN is needed to authorise payments.
