Libraries boosted by new technology
26 Aug 2009
The marketing manager at library technology solutions firm 3M, David Fletcher, has explained how his company's new product helps those who use it.
With the help of RFID technology, the 3M Centralised Stats, Status and Configuration Software can help save libraries time when they use it alongside the SelfCheck System, which is also designed by 3M.
Mr Fletcher, whose responsibility lies within 3M's library systems division, said that any library will be able to save time and effort by using the system.
"The new real-time detailed status screen has an intuitive dashboard that updates instantly, providing a green, yellow or red status indicator to create an alert for interruptions in status," he explained.
Libraries can separately monitor each SelfCheck device and if a problem occurs - like a fault with the monitoring scanner for example - the cause is made clear straight away.
Meanwhile, using similar contactless technology, UK based eMoney Network sQuidcard offers full transparency to its customers and merchants, as its online portal details visibility of all transactions.
This means that merchants benefit from being able to identify trends within their business, while users can keep a regular check on their spending.
