Air New Zealand teams up with retail loyalty scheme
26 Aug 2010

Air New Zealand has formed a partnership with retail loyalty scheme Fly Buys, it has been revealed.

The deal will allow the two firms' loyalty programmes to be merged, enabling members of both programmes to benefit.

Fly Buys members will be able to redeem their store points against the cost of a flight on the airline, while Air New Zealand Airpoints Programme members can accumulate points by shopping at 3,000 participating outlets.

Rob McDonald, Air New Zealand's chief financial officer, claimed the new scheme will allow members to accumulate points quickly.

He said: "Working with the country's largest and best retail loyalty programme means our Airpoints members will now have even more everyday opportunities to earn Airpoints Dollars with access to the large range of Fly Buys retail outlets."

Currently, around one in five New Zealand residents are members of the Air New Zealand Airpoints Programme. Fly Buys is the country's largest loyalty scheme with 2.3 million members.

The new programme is expected to be launched in November.
