Australian supermarket giant revamps its loyalty scheme
22 Feb 2011

Millions of supermarket customers in Australia are to benefit from the revamping of one of the country's biggest loyalty card schemes.

Supermarket Coles has promised to make it easier for shoppers to collect points and claim rewards on its FlyBuys loyalty scheme, which is currently used by ten million people.

The Herald Sun reports that shoppers have previously been wary of how much value they're actually getting from the programme.

However, now the supermarket is promising to deliver real savings at a time when households are finding they have to spend more on essentials such as electricity and petrol.

Coles finance director Tony Buffin told the newspaper that the new programme will be all about delivering value for money.

"I am genuinely excited," he is reported to have said. "I think there's a lot for us to do to improve FlyBuys. It's a good time, in fact it's a great time, to be a FlyBuys member."

Earlier this month, the Daily Telegraph revamped its Privilege loyalty scheme, which offers benefits on dining, beauty, home, gardens and films.
