Barclaycard launches mobile loyalty scheme

Smartphone users who own a Barclaycard credit card could be rewarded for their loyalty following the company's announcement of a new scheme.

Launched today (August 10th), Barclaycard Freedom allows customers to take advantage of savings offers while on the go through a mobile phone application that locates the nearest retailers.

By joining forces with discount provider Vouchercloud, the credit card company is set to allow users to gain discounts in a range of shops and restaurants including Shell, Goldsmiths and Pizza Express.

According to Barclaycard's Richard Wergen, the move comes to capitalise upon the increasing number of individuals accessing money saving offers through their mobile phones.

"We have significantly grown the range of retailers and offers available to our cardholders and today's announcement makes it easier than ever to access our latest offers," he explained.

News of the promotion comes after telecommunications provider O2 announced the launch of the Priority Moments mobile voucher loyalty scheme, where consumers can collect points when attending the O2 Arena and Academies.
