Barclaycard picks up award for loyalty scheme
8 Feb 2011
Barclaycard has picked up a prize for its loyalty scheme at the Cards and Payments Awards 2011.
The firm's Reward Money programme, which allows cardholders to earn real cash at participating retailers, beat stiff competition to claim the industry prize.
Barclaycard customers can accrue Reward Money for each transaction they make at over 20,000 outlets across the UK, including House of Fraser, Shell and Pizza Express, and instantly redeem it at the till.
Sarah Alspach, marketing director at Barclaycard Freedom, expressed her delight at the award for the programme, which she claims has "reinvigorated the loyalty market".
She said: "The award recognises the technical achievement and dedication of our team in ensuring that the complexity of implementation was hidden from retailers who were left free to make the most of advanced data mining tools to better target their customer offers."
The scheme was praised for its smooth implementation which required over eight thousand days worth of working hours to complete.
