Brits 'looking for loyalty schemes' when choosing credit cards
8 Apr 2011
A growing number of people are looking for credit cards that offer some kind of loyalty scheme, it has been revealed.
Research conducted by Sainsbury's Credit Cards found that 8.65 million Brits plan to get one of the plastic payment methods over the next year.
For 28 per cent of respondents, the loyalty programmes that accompany such initiatives are the most important factor when deciding which to choose.
A total of 34.4 per cent of all credit cards now offer this kind of incentive.
Stuart McKeggie, head of Sainsbury's Credit Cards, said: "We're encouraged by the sign that more of us are shopping around for a credit card that rewards our custom."
However, he urged individuals to take some time and choose a deal that suits their needs, as there are many different options and it is "easy to become overwhelmed".
A new loyalty scheme was recently launched by Expedia, which rewards holidaymakers for booking flights, hotels and cars with the company.
