Canadian tyre retailer launches new loyalty scheme
17 Feb 2012
A tyre retailer in Canada has launched a new loyalty scheme which will offer customers the chance to earn points at a faster rate than the previous programme.
Canadian Tire is set to trial its new Advantage Card in 21 stores and eight petrol stations across Nova Scotia on 24th February as it looks to update the way in which it rewards loyal customers.
The firm is renowned for its colourful Canadian Tire money coupons which offer customers the chance to earn 0.4 points for each dollar spent, but the new card will offer users one point per dollar spent.
Furthermore, those using the new card in conjunction with the Options MasterCard will accrue three points for every dollar spent.
Rob Shields, senior vice-president of marketing for Canadian Tire, expects customers to be drawn to the new scheme due to its added benefits.
He told the Financial Post: "This programme really compliments the credit card more than the paper base. From a customer standpoint, the value creation for them is very good."
Members of the new scheme, which is set to be rolled out across the rest of Canada, can choose to donate their points to charity and will be eligible for special offers.
