Cheshire loyalty scheme aims to drive local trade
13 Oct 2009
Cheshire East Council has helped fund an advertising campaign for a local loyalty scheme, it has been reported.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the local authority put money towards marketing material that urged both businesses and customers to join up to the loyalty programme.
Dubbed Love Local Life, the initiative sees customers rewarded with special offers and deals when they spend their money in certain Cheshire establishments.
It was the brainchild of Macclesfield restaurateur Mandy Fazelynia, who felt something needed to be done to boost her businesses once the recession first started to take hold.
Customers carry a card and can use it when buying things to eat and other items in and around Cheshire.
There are similar loyalty schemes that have been set up around the UK - in East Grinstead, West Sussex for example - and they have benefits for commerce and the general public.
Meanwhile, eMoney network sQuidcard continues to run a loyalty programme for Coffee Republic, which sees members of the scheme get money off their purchases when they present a special loyalty card in the coffee shop.
