House of Commons staff to benefit from loyalty scheme
17 Oct 2011

Staff at the House of Commons are to benefit from a new loyalty scheme when using catering facilities.

According to ePolitix, the decision was made after an administration committee report found that lower-paid employees were finding it increasingly difficult to afford food on the premises due to inflated prices.

The Unite parliamentary staff branch raised the issue earlier this year and it is now hoped more people will eat on-site meals.

It is thought that the loyalty scheme will involve discounting and promotional offers in a bid to increase footfall.

"We are very pleased that our proposal for a staff loyalty or discount scheme for MPs' staff now has the backing of both the House of Commons administration committee and the House of Commons commission," said Unite's Max Freedman.

Earlier this month, First Retail said in an article for Photo Imaging News that loyalty schemes need to be designed with their benefactors in mind if they are to work.
