16 Feb 2011

A restaurant chain in India has launched a new e-money payment system which aims to attract more customers.

Indian in a Box, based in the state of Pune, has begun using Miracle Web's point-of-sale transaction technology known as iSpice.

Customers will be issued with the restaurant's CURRi smart card which will allow them to pay for meals at any of the chain's outlets without the need for cash.

Cardholders will also be able to accrue loyalty points every time they dine at the restaurants, which can be redeemed for discounted meals.

Furthermore, Indian in a Box is planning to form partnerships with other retailers in the area to offer further discounts to customers.

Ashish Sondhi, the chief executive of the restaurant, claimed that the new card could help the firm expand throughout Pune and significantly expand its customer base over the next two years.
