Loyalty scheme in Maynooth
21 Aug 2009
An Irish businessman has explained how using the Wiser Card loyaltyprogramme he established in the Irish town of Maynooth can be beneficial to consumers.
Commenting to the Leinster Leader, John O'Sullivan said that the discount offered by the loyalty programme is good for both businesses and cardholders.
Discounts are offered to those who use the loyalty marketing initiative, while they are apparently a commercial success because they encourage people to spend their eCash in specific areas.
"The reason behind developing the card was to give customers the choice of where to shop and we have been selective in the businesses we approached," Mr O'Sullivan remarked.
Butchers, pharmacists, oil merchants and hairdressers have all joined the loyalty scheme so far.
In Bolton and Dundee, sQuidcard provides residents with contactless smart cards that can be used in many local retailers. Cardholders pay for their goods by holding their cards against a contactless sQuid reader and can top up their card in store or online.
