Loyalty scheme launched in Kettering
25 Oct 2011
Christmas shoppers in Kettering can soon sign up to a loyalty scheme that will enable them to get discounts at certain town centre retail outlets.
Business leaders in the Northamptonshire town will spend £4,000 setting up the initiative - aimed at encouraging more people to spend their money in their hometown, rather than travelling further afield for their festive gifts - the Northants Evening Telegraph reports.
The cards will be released on December 3rd and will cost £15. Organisers are hoping to see more than 100 businesses sign up for the promotion and uptake has been positive thus far.
As well as independent retailers, national chains such as Boots, Cash Generator and Bon Marche have declared an interest.
"The support we've had has been fantastic, not just from independent traders, but also national ones," commented Kettering Chamber of Trade chairman Neil Griffin.
Last week, Scotland-based newspapers the Forfar Dispatch and the Kirriemuir Herald joined together to launch a similar loyalty project aimed at boosting trade among independent stores in the areas.
