Loyalty schemes a solution for people who can't afford to travel?
14 Apr 2011
Loyalty schemes are ideal for those who want to travel the world but cannot afford to do so, one leading US travel personality has suggested.
In an article published on the Vancouver Sun's website, Julia Dimon explained she often hears people saying that they dream of travelling the world, but lack the finance to pay for flights and other costs.
Ms Dimon, who co-hosts the Word Travels television show broadcast on National Geographic Adventure, stated she is a "real advocate" of using reward initiatives to pay for such expenses.
"If you accumulate points on what you buy anyway, it's pretty effortless," she remarked.
Last month, Sainsbury's revealed customers signed up to its Nectar reward scheme will be able to use their points to pay for flights on easyJet.
And vice-president of rewards for American Express Tracy Hendricks noted loyalty schemes are becoming increasingly popular among the public, stating: "People are increasingly making decisions based on rewards."
