New loyalty scheme launched in Worcester
10 Feb 2011
A new loyalty scheme has been launched in Worcester which will reward city workers for purchasing goods at local stores.
The new Employalty Card offers members the chance to earn discounts at around 60 participating retailers in the city, including jewellers, restaurants, hair salons and clothes stores.
It was set up by the Worcester Business Improvement District (BID), a not-for-profit organisation which is funded by businesses and aims to promote local trade.
Adrian Field, manager of Worcester BID, told the BBC News website: "The aim of the project is to encourage those people who are in the city centre to spend money locally when they are on their lunch hour or on their way in to or home from work."
Mr Field added that, should all 16,000 city workers sign up to the programme, it could benefit both local businesses and its members.
In order to be eligible for the Employalty Card, employees must work at a firm which pays the BID levy.
