New partnership boosts Irish loyalty schemes
23 Aug 2010
Irish retailers will soon be able to easily integrate contactless technology with their loyalty scheme, it has been revealed.
Payment processors Merchant Services and Zapa Technology have formed a partnership which will allow stores to use Zapa's contactless hardware, reports irishtimes.com.
Shops will issue customers with a sticker which can be placed on a wallet or phone and used to collect and redeem loyalty points.
Consumers can use the same stickers in a number of shops as each company's loyalty scheme will work independently.
Chris Mason, managing director of AIB Merchant Services, claimed retailers will be able to gather important data with the new system.
He told the news provider: "The merchant can go online to see how many points have been redeemed, how many customers have the tags and what they are doing.
"It offers a lot of information in terms of who's been in their shops and how regularly they have done so."
Mr Mason added that a number of businesses can work together to offer the same loyalty programme to users.
