Newspapers and businesses launch festive loyalty scheme

Two newspapers and a host of local businesses have joined forces to launch a loyalty scheme designed to encourage people to do business with independent shops.

The Forfar Dispatch and the Kirriemuir Herald have offered people the chance to hit the jackpot in a series of prize draws between November 3rd and December 22nd 2011.

Anyone who buys goods in participating outlets will be able to use their loyalty cards each time they spend £10. Once they have done this five times, their card will be collected and then entered into that week's lucky draw.

However, losers need not be too disappointed, because their cards will also be kept for the grand final draw at the end of the promotion.

Earlier this month, shopkeepers in Oxfordshire were also urged to sign up for a new loyalty scheme that would see their customers rewarded for shopping locally, the Oxford Mail reported.
